Description
Icom IC-21A 2-Meter FM Transceiver with microphone. Works well, and is very nice cosmetically.Has dual power supplies-12 volt DC or 110 volt AC. Cord is currently set up for 110 v.
Has the original microphone, and a photocopy of a manual.
It accommodates crystals for 24 channels. It presently has crystals for 146.52 and 146.16 (simplex), and for repeaters on 146.22, 146.28, 146.34, and 146.37 (600 KHz offset). It will also work with a VFO, but VFO is not included.
It is rated at 10 watts out. My cheapo MFJ SWR meter says it is putting out 20 watts, so I would guess that it is cranking out its rated 10. Audio sounds good on receive and transmit.
The only issue is that the light in the S/Power Out/SWR meter is out. It looks like someone messed with something on the back of the meter, likely the bulb circuit. I don't want to take it all apart to deal with that, but it is likely an easy fix unless the bulb is some oddball. It that case, I would replace it with an LED and a dropping resistor.
Note that it does not generate CTCSS tones to activate. Such a circuit could be added, but has not been. I use this to monitor 146.52 simplex, so have not needed tones.
Solid state-46 transistors, 1 integrated circuit, 28 diodes, and no vacuum tubes.
This is a solidly built unit, which weighs quite a bit.
