    Description

    Offered here for your bidding inspection is this really lovely set of four antique cast iron purple pansy curtain tiebacks! These evoke the spirit of romance from a bygone era. Large and heavy, the faces of the flowers measure 3 1/4” across, with the tiebacks being 5” long inclusive of all the hardware. These old world gems would have held the folds of the curtain fabric back on either side of the window, framing the view in a pretty sort of way. The cold painted finishes are chippy, as one might expect. One of the four flowers is bluer than the rest—a blue violet rather than the secondary purple one finds on a standard color wheel. Their stamens are picked out in orange in bright and delightful contrast. Just charming! I imagine these date to the 1920’s. More than one company was making this type of product, though Hubley is probably the most well known. These four examples are not marked in any way.
