Description
Tonfunk vintage tube radio made in the 1950s in West Germany.Note: This radio is offered "as is" and no promises are made concerning its condition.
- This item is currently not working. I plugged it in but the tubes failed to light up.
- It appears that the power cord was swapped out at sometime for a more contemporary American style cord.
- The name "Tonfunk" is displayed on the front grille, but it is written in a highly abstract style. There is a label elsewhere on the radio that clearly identifies it (see pic).
- There is a label saying, "Made in western Germany." This is Cold War-speak. They didn't say West Germany because that would imply that there is an East Germany, which they didn't want to admit.
- The speaker on one side is loose (doesn't show up well in the pic). It is due to a missing screw on the inside of the radio chassis.
- The back panel is split but the pieces are still attached. Handle with care.
- All the buttons work mechanically, except for the on/off button. Maybe that has something to do with the radio failing to turn on.
