Vintage Admiral Model 5K3 Portable AM Tube Radio

Description

For sale is a vintage Admiral model 5K3 portable AM tube radio. Overall, this radio is in decent condition for its age with several condition issues. The removable antenna on the back is missing a screw, has at least two small cracks, and has a chunk missing out of the side. There is also some black residue on the antenna and the back of the radio. Other than these issues, the plastic cabinet looks to be in pretty good condition with only scuffs and scratches. The emblem on the speaker grill is a little bent out of shape. Most of the numbers on the dial scale are worn off. One of the screws on the bottom has been replaced with a bolt. Lastly, it looks like both knobs are missing decorative metal covers. Please see all photos.
The radio was plugged in and briefly tested. It powers on and received 3 or 4 local stations. The reception seems weak with lower than expected volume. The radio has a very faint background hum. The cord appears to have been replaced. This radio will require servicing to be made fully functional, so please consider it as non-working. It is being sold as-is for parts or repair.
