    Description

    VINTAGE ARVIN PORTABLE AM RADIO MODEL 8571
    This is a vintage 1958 4 tube 1R5, 1U4,1U5,3V4 Superhetrodyne AM Broadcast Band radio.  The radio designed to operate on 117 AC or DC (No transformer).  DC operation requires a 90 volt "B" Battery and a 7.5 Volt "A" battery.   AC power plug must be inserted into PC circuit board mounted switch for Battery Operation (see last photo).
    Radio is housed in a Grey/White cloth covered metal case.  Radio is 10 7/8 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide, 8 inches tall.  Radio weighs 3 pounds 12 ounces without batteries.  Radio comes with a usable (not original) line cord.
    Only able to test radio on AC.  Radio has good sensitivity, TUNE and VOLUME ON/OFF controls run smoothly - Audio is LOUD - No audio breakup or noisy tuning.
    Radio has not been recapped - AC hum very very low.
