VINTAGE KITTY CUCUMBER “ALBERT AS PRINCE CHARMING” PORCELAIN THIMBLE.
The Kitty Cucumber Collection evolved from a favorite cat that artist Mary Lillemoe had as a child- a cat born, of all places, in a cucumber patch.
Many years later, upon first seeing Mary's whimsical sketches of her now famous childhood pet, Mary's 5-year-old daughter Annie proudly announced, "That's Kitty Cucumber!"
And with that out- of- the mouths-of babes exclamation, a collection was born.
Schmid was an international leader in fine gifts and collectibles, and transformed Kitty and her friends into finely handcrafted, hand painted collectibles.

Kitty and her friends are beautifully depicted in these hand painted porcelain thimbles.
This thimble for auction is “Albert as Prince Charming” from the “Cinderella” collection.
He is dressed in his attire for the time period.
He looks so handsome in his ruffled shirt, vest, and waistcoat.
He has a cane in his left hand and is holding a purple pillow in his right hand.
Of course, the famous slipper is sitting on the pillow.
He looks determined to find his Princess!
The detail is second to none, and his facial characteristics are amazing with his gleaming eyes, and white whiskers.
It measures 1-3/4” high.
On the inside of the thimble, it is marked B. Shackman, 1992, with a Schmid sticker.
What a treasure for the Kitty Cucumber, or thimble collector.
Kitty Cucumber porcelain collectibles withstand the test of time, with avid collectors all over the globe.
Although vintage, the thimble is new- never displayed- from a smoke & pet free home.
This thimble could naturally be used as a mini figurine also to display anywhere.
