    Description

In 1955 this modern and bold looking radio spoke to new and exiting times during the mid century American baby boom.  Having AM and the newer and soon to be more popular FM, this creamy ivory radio really stands out.  Most of this model/style seem to be the two tone brown and ivory, so this one is rather rare.  Made of "modern" plastic, the cabinet has no damage or cracks.  All but the grill insert and dial face have been repainted over two weeks with great results and almost a perfect match.  The cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks or other damage.
With seven tubes and an internal loop antenna, it receives quite well with excellent sensitivity, selectivity and mellow tube sound.  It also has a terminal for an external antenna if needed.  It has a presence and warmth that brings back thoughts of simpler times.  However, take note of the "CD" (civil defense) triangle station location markings that were on the AM band.  Those were from the cold war era when fears of a nuclear attack were of concern that luckily were averted.  And of course as with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail.  Please check the reviews on other radios I have restored and sold.
    The
    cabinet
was completely disassembled and cleaned, then repainted to match the original, other than the dial face/checkered insert and bottom. The dial face has crisp and clear graphics.  The knobs were polished.  The left and right knobs are replacements that are very close to the originals. The back cover/antenna assembly is original.  The photos say the rest about how pristine this radio is and how well it displays.
Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with
    all
paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones.  Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed.  All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated.  The trouble prone selenium rectifier was replaced with a modern diode.  Wiring and other components were replaced as needed.  The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna.
This baby boomer radio is now 66 years old and Medicare
    eligible, yet
looking like it did when new.  And, now that it is completely restored, it sounds like it too!  It will continue to bring reliable AM & FM enjoyment for many more years if well cared for.  It is an wonderful addition to a collection or as a gift for someone to cherish.  Dimensions:  12.5x8x7.5”.
This radio will be packaged very carefully for shipment and may be double boxed if needed to best protect it.  It will have packing materials placed between the chassis/tubes and cabinet to reduce the risk of tube displacement or damage during shipment.
The buyer must remove those materials prior to use.
The seller will instruct the buyer on how to accomplish this after the radio has shipped.
Buyers should note that tube AM & SW radio reception can often be very negatively affected by florescent, LED and other lights, even those in another room.  It can also be affected by FAX machines and other devices.  If you are having reception interference, try turning off those devices and check for improvement.
Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced.
The tubes in this radio are in good
    working order.
The seller cannot guarantee the length of time before a tube will need to be replaced. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
