    Description

You're bidding on a small - 7 1/2" X 5 3/4" - Japanese woodblock printed card, depicting a print scene, "Daitokuji, Tokyo", by Kiyoshi Saito. Saito was perhaps the most important artist behind the sosaku-hanga movement - a reorientation of printmaking away from traditionalist subjects and techniques and towards modernism and art for art's sake.
Beginning in the 1950s, the cards - reductions of his own works - were printed by Saito, and sold in sets from his workshop. This card depicts a quite abstracted scene of a garden at the 14th century temple at Kyoto.
Note, there may be a scratch on the surface, near the building in the background of the scene - overall, condition is quite clean and appealing. Note, cad only, envelope is not present.
Please review photos carefully to make your own determination of overall condition and appeal, and don't hesitate to ask any questions prior to bidding - thanks for looking!
